ENG4CU3L4: Writing a Rap
April 14-22, 2015:
On these days we will write our own original wrap/spoken word poems. Students were asked to choose an issue that they have a personal connection to and are passionate about. They may research using articles as well as include personal experience. We listened to "Self Destruction" and students considered the issues discussed in that song, along with key terms and ideas (stereotype, etc).
Over the course of these classes, students will use the handouts to compose their own songs/spoken word poetry.
Want to get inspired? Here are some quotes to get you started. Check out these songs and let the inspiration take you where it will!
Beats: Remember to work with a beat in mind. Here is a great list of beats for many different moods. Consider which might suit your topic and listen to the beat while composing your rap/poem.
